Chevrolet and NASCAR are both associated with lightning-fast performance vehicles. So when Chevy debuts a new vehicle for the NASCAR Cup Series, you know that you’re in for something exciting.
Starting with the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE will become the automaker’s racecar of choice.
The Camaro ZL1 1LE will replace the outgoing Camaro ZL1 currently used in the NASCAR Cup Series. While the standard Camaro ZL1 is still incredibly fast, the ZL1 1LE represents the most up-to-date performance that Chevy has to offer.
“The ZL1 1LE is the highest performer within the Camaro production-car lineup,” explains Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports for Chevrolet. “We took lessons from the production car and applied them to the new 2020 Cup car.”
To help craft this performance vehicle, Chevrolet employed a number of state-of-the-art techniques, including wind tunnel testing and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
Chevrolet is no stranger to introducing vehicles for racing purpose. In fact, Chevy also has vehicles in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NHRA Funny Car class, and Pirelli World Challenge GTS division.
