The Bowtie brand has come up with a new EV model that should knock Tesla off its perch atop the EV world. Chevy already has the Spark and Volt EVs in its lineup, but the new Chevrolet Bolt EV will bring Chevy’s EV technology to a bigger market than ever before. The Bolt started life as a concept, revealed just last month, and now is already slated for production to hit the market by 2017.
“The message from consumers about the Bolt EV concept was clear and unequivocal: Build it,” said Batey. “We are moving quickly because of its potential to completely shake up the status quo for electric vehicles.”
Here’s how the Bolt EV will shake up that status quo: it will have a 200 mile range, a starting price of $30,000, and more. Those numbers make it affordable and practical for people from coast-to-coast, not just in California.
Of course, there’s a whole lot we still don’t know when it comes to the Bolt EV, but we do know Chevrolet Bolt EV production will take place at the Orion Assembly facility in Detroit. We also know it will have several driving modes; it will work with DC fast charging technology; and, it will sport progressive and stylish design elements. Consumers who are looking to purchase luxury cars often want the best of the best—especially in their vehicle’s interior. The Buick Avenir concept car interior provides customers with a sleek, sophisticated design and high-quality materials within its cabin, helping the vehicle—which debuted at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) earlier this year—earn awards left and right.
“With Avenir’s interior, we really wanted to select materials that would complement the surfaces within,” said Rebecca Waldmeir, Buick Color and Trim design manager. “Using a distinctive combination of premium leather, suede, wood, chrome, and acrylic, we were able to design elements that flow seamlessly throughout the interior.”
The Avenir’s interior combines a variety of top-notch materials, putting a twist on traditional Buick interior styling with a nature-inspired look. These new design cues hint at the future of the Buick brand’s design philosophy, showing that the American carmaker is on the path to becoming a leader in the luxury segment.

If you tuned in to Super Bowl XLIX, then you were one of millions who came close to having a heart attack right before the game. Chevrolet pranked the Super Bowl viewing audience with a clever ad called “Blackout.”
This ad tricked viewers into thinking they were watching a live feed of them game, only to experience technical difficulties and then a blank screen. After a few tense seconds, the words, “What would you do if your TV went out?” appeared on the screen. The ad then let viewers know they could stream the game inside the all-new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado with its built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi if that ever happened.
In addition to the “Blackout” ad, Chevrolet also ran four other Colorado spots during pre- and postgame, including “Focus Group – Rugged,” “Focus Group – Sexier,” “Focus Group – Pets,” and “Theme Song.”
“When you have a groundbreaking product like the Chevy Colorado, you must deliver groundbreaking advertising like we are today.” said Paul Edwards, US vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, in a statement.
Did you fall for Chevrolet’s blackout prank? What was your favorite Chevrolet Colorado ad from the big game?
When Chevrolet first introduced the Spark electric vehicle, it kick-started a movement in the all-electric vehicle segment to offer more affordable electric cars. Now, the popular mini-car has made such an impact on the industry that Chevrolet Spark sales have added a brand-new state to its list: Maryland.
“The Spark EV has been one of the most well-received electric vehicles in the industry and customer demand helped make the decision to expand its availability to Maryland,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet director of car marketing. “Following the introduction of the next-generation Volt and Bolt EV concept, this further reinforces Chevrolet’s commitment to electrification and delivering more choices where our customers want them.”
Maryland is the perfect locale for the Chevrolet Spark with a high number of commuters and a network of charging stations across the state. The Spark is priced as low as $17,845 in Maryland, after both federal and state tax credits.
While the Spark has yet to grace Michigan with its sales, Chevrolet still has plenty of eco-friendly cars to offer. Stop in to College Chevrolet Buick today to see what your fuel-efficient options are.
