The Chevrolet Volt is seeing major improvements for its 2016 incarnation. Enhancements cover nearly every major area, especially in the power department…star-power, that is.
Nothing attracts stars like another star. Several celebrities came out to honor the rebirth of the Volt, including Lance Bass of N*Sync, Paris Hilton, and Beverly Hills, 90210 star Tori Spelling. Of course, it should be mentioned, as Green Car Reports did, that Chevrolet’s “southern California office quietly loans new General Motors cars to influencers, advocates, and celebs.” So, we might not be able to say these celebrities are entirely unselfish in their support, but it’s still a win/win!
Of course, the real star of the show was the new redesigned 2016 Chevrolet Volt. The automaker happily reported in a press statement that the Volt has a “new, efficient propulsion system” which “enables 19% stronger zero-to-30 mph acceleration” and a “total driving range of more than 400 miles.” Those kinds of numbers will make anyone fans, including us at College Chevy Buick.
Finding a pickup truck that mixes top-notch capabilities and sophistication can be difficult—unless you’re looking to order the Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition. This brand new edition pickup from Chevrolet, which debuted at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, creates a sophisticated monochromatic look for double- and crew-cab Silverados, showing that it’s easy to have the best of both worlds.
“The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. “Those CST models added a touch of elegance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado.”
Body-colored front and rear bumpers, a body-colored grille surround, and a chrome-accented black grille are all part of the Custom Sport Edition package, along with new 20-inch chrome wheels. Helping add a touch of sophistication are chrome door handles and mirror caps, and chrome body-side moldings, all for a slight increase of $1,950 to $2,950 to the Silverado’s base price.
The Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition can be added to your Silverado purchase now, so stop in to College Chevrolet Buick today to see how you can add a touch of class to your pickup truck.
This week, Chevy pulled back the curtain on the Chevrolet Bolt Concept at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan. The Bolt Concept is an electric vehicle whose range tops 200, catapulting Chevy to the forefront of the EV movement. And what’s more—the Chevy Bolt EV is going to be offered for a clean and easy $30,000, something unheard of in the EV market.
According to a report from Slash Gear, the Chevrolet Bolt Concept is likely Chevy’s answer to Tesla’s upcoming Model 3. While Teslas are typically out of the price range of everyday consumers, the Model 3 is going to be aimed at regular average Joes who want to drive electric, and will likely be offered at a price point close to $30,000. Not wanting to let Tesla dominate that market, Chevy has developed its own EV with incredible efficiency.
But the Chevy Bolt isn’t the only hot thing at the Detroit Auto Show. The show lasts through January 25th, and since Detroit is within driving distance, be sure to head out and check out all the awesome displays.
Here at College Chevrolet Buick, we couldn’t believe it when we heard Chevy is utilizing a virtual reality system to design the next-generation Colorado and accessories. Using 2D and 3D renderings, Chevy engineers are able to fine-tune the details on any new product.
Engineers are using a 4K ultra-fine resolution PowerWall system to refine the 2015 Chevy Colorado accessories, according to Chevy. Using a 240 square-foot solid-glass screen, two Christie® Mirage 4K25 DLP® 3D projectors, eight computers, and two Christie Spyder X20 video processors, a team of five is able to ensure customers get exactly what they need.
“That’s the beauty of this kind of high definition. Using the math data, we can render the vehicle as the customer will see it in the ‘as manufactured state,’” said Joe Guzman, engineering group manager for Global Virtual Design Process & Operations. “Designers and engineers can then scrutinize every detail to make sure they are spot on.”
Thanks to this innovative new design system, Chevy is able to create some of the highest-quality cars on the road. Why would you want anything less than the best?
