• Help Chevrolet #NameThatCamaro

Current Camaro Available at College Chevy!

Special edition cars can be fun to drive and own, but having a unique name makes them stand out even more. Chevrolet has created a special edition Camaro painted in an exclusive Emerald Green Metallic color with other unique features and it wants help choosing a name.

For a bit of fun, Chevrolet has started a new campaign where fans can name this special edition Camaro. To submit your ideas, just send Chevrolet your idea on Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #NameThatCamaro.

Chevrolet will then announce the winning name when the Camaro debuts at the SEMA show in Las Vegas next month. Other than bragging rights, it doesn’t seem the name-picker gets anything. So, don’t expect to see a free Camaro landing in your driveway anytime soon.

“Chevrolet has made a tradition of offering special-edition models each spring, but this is the first time we’ve turned to the community of Camaro fans to name it,” said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager, in a statement. “We can’t think of a better way to involve the owners and enthusiasts who have made it the segment’s best-selling sports car for four years running.”

In addition to its unique paint color, the special edition Camaro features an RS Appearance Package, Chrome Duke 21-inch accessory wheels, body-color SS hood extractor, body-color accessory ground effects package, body-color ZL1 rear spoiler, and Cyber Gray rally stripes.

What do you think the perfect name for this Camaro should be? Share your ideas with us below; don’t forget to use the hashtag #NameThatCamaro and share it with Chevrolet, too!

  • Aspiring Transportation Designers Sculpt Buicks of Future

aspiring transportation designersWith more and more carmakers looking to appeal to a younger audience, it’s no surprise Buick has taken appealing to the youngsters a step further. The American carmaker partnered with BASF this past month to sponsor a competition for students at Detroit’s College for Creative Studies, who were asked to shape their vision of what Buicks will look like in 2030.

Through an exploration of their own out of the box ideas and consultations with industry professionals, more than a dozen aspiring transportation designers created what they believed the 2030 Buicks will look like, bringing them to life in 3D scale models.

“The solutions these concepts offer are as unique as the future car designers at CCS who created them,” said Andrew Smith, executive director of Buick global design. “For Buick, this project is an invitation for new insights and interpretation of our brand and the future portfolio of products we will offer.”

The competition asked the students to consider the dramatic rise in urban populations, developing countries, nanotechnology, and a variety of advanced materials that will play in vehicle efficiency.

With a lightweight exterior, exceptional integration of Buick design cues, and inviting interior, Namsuk Lee from Seoul, Korea won the competition, receiving an award of $3,000 for best overall concept and $1,500 for best interior. Sam Kenny of Greensboro, North Carolina, won $1,500 for best exterior design, while Justin Salmon of Boca Raton, Florida won $1,000 for most innovative use of materials.
