This past December, the Chevrolet Suburban received a Hollywood star to be placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It was the first time in history that an automobile earned an Award of Excellence Star, and of all vehicles the Chevy Suburban has definitely earned it.
The full-size SUV made its first appearance on screen in 1952. Since that debut, the Suburban has appeared in over 1,750 movies and television shows. It’s had a role in at least one TV series per year since 1956, and at least one film a year since 1960. Over 30 of its roles on the silver screen were in award-nominated films.
The industry loves the Suburban for its versatility. It’s had roles as the villain, as the family car, and as everything in between. It can signify importance, or represent the classic American family.
Following in the Suburban’s footsteps is the Chevy Tahoe. This midsize SUV has had its own successful Hollywood story, appearing in at least one television series and one movie a year since the SUV was introduced in 1995.
The Suburban received its star on December 4, 2020, in an unveiling ceremony at ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard where the SUV was honored for its 67 years of work in Hollywood.
Get behind the wheel of the only vehicle with a Hollywood star at College Chevrolet Buick!
This month, we would like for you to meet Alan DeVaughn! Alan has only been with us for a month, but we’re excited that he’s here! Alan is from Jackson, and still calls it home to this day. He went to College at Spring Arbor University and graduated with a major in Art.
Alan’s dream car if a 1964 Pontiac Firebird Convertible. He says that he fell in love with the car during Spring Break of his Senior year of High School. Currently, Alan drives a Chevy Suburban, but his all-time favorite car he’s ever owned was a 1987 Pontiac Grand Am. His favorite current Chevy vehicle is the Suburban, but he thinks that the Impala matches his personality best. Alan says that the worst car he’s ever driven was a Chrysler PT Cruiser.
When not at work, you’ll catch Alan playing games with his kids, going to the movies, and taking his wife on dates. He enjoys cheering on the Detroit Tigers and his favorite TV show is Royal Pains.
Alan’s favorite part of his job is meeting and interacting with new people and the excitement of helping others purchase a new car. Like we said, we are very excited to have Alan as a part of the College team! Stop by and give him a warm welcome!
This December, we would like to introduce a newer member of our team, Brian Butts! Brian works as a sales consultant at College Chevy and currently resides in Jonesville, MI. He is very knowledgeable in the sales word, having 20 years of experience before coming to our dealership.
When Brian has the free time, he enjoys to spend his time outdoors either off-roading or camping. He also enjoys watching his favorite TV show, Gold Rush, and spending time with his children. Brian is originally from Fishers, IN but him and his family now call Jonesville his home.
While working in the automotive industry, Brian has formed his own opinions about the cars he’s experienced in his life. His favorite car that he’s ever owned is his Jeep XJ. This car has sentimental value to him because it is the vehicle that he met his wife in. Although Brian currently drives a Suburban, he says that his favorite Chevy vehicle is the Corvette. The worst car he’s ever driven was his daughter’s F-150 because it’s always breaking down on him!
We invite you to come say “Hi!” and welcome one of our new team members at College Chevrolet Buick. He’s the perfect sales rep to help you find your brand new car!
This month’s spotlight is on our very own General Manager, Chuck Hiatt! Chuck has been an integral part of College Chevrolet Buick for 12 years now. He is originally from Logansport, IN but now resides in Albion, where he cheers on the Michigan Wolverines.
Chuck has been in the car industry for 28 years and has formed his own opinion of different models over his years of experience. Chuck currently drives a 2017 Suburban & a Buick Enclave but his favorite car that he’s ever owned was his Corvette. If he had to pick a favorite car on our lot, he would pick his very own Suburban, or a Tahoe. The Suburban is even Chuck’s dream car because of the luxury and spare space that the vehicle entails.
Aside from cars, Chuck has many other interests and hobbies that he enjoys doing in his free time. He loves hanging out with his grandkids, golfing, seeing Alabama lose, and watching the Big Bang Theory. His favorite show of all time is Hill Street Blues.

Chevy is the first automaker in the industry to develop this kind of technology, similar to the technology used in a Boeing 787. In the jet, in-flight messages can be sent to ground crews that alert them of parts that need inspection before the plane hits the ground.
OnStar Proactive alerts work similarly, by continuously monitoring the health of the starter motor, fuel pump, and 12-volt battery. If anything isn’t functioning as it should, you’ll get an alert from OnStar instructing you to take your car in for service.
Currently, this predictive technology is available to OnStar subscribers who own a 2016 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette, and Equinox.
“With Proactive Alerts, we now can offer customers even greater peace-of-mind of taking the guesswork out of when to service their vehicle,” said Steve Hollan, chief technologist for Vehicle Health Management at General Motors.
With these updates, you’ll get alerts on your vehicle’s health every time your car is started, and while you’re driving.
Now behind the wheel, you’ll be able to fix your car before you even notice something’s wrong!
