Chevrolet continues to upgrade its lineup of sophisticated, family-friendly crossovers and SUVs with updates to both the Chevrolet Equinox and the Chevrolet Traverse. Each model had a refreshed version scheduled to launch next year as 2022 models.
While we at College Chevrolet Buick are disappointed for the delay of these models due to the current situation, the delay is increasing the anticipation for these modernized Chevy family-haulers.
The next versions of the Equinox and Traverse will be worth the wait. The 2022 Chevy Equinox will stand out from previous versions with a sportier design and an all-new RS trim. An Equinox RS will add extra flair with black upholstery, red stitching, and black accents on the body. This compact SUV will also add more standard and available safety features to its 2022 trim, including standard Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Following Distance Indicator.
The new, redesigned 2022 Chevy Traverse will have six standard driver-assist features of its own, as well as other family-friendly features, like new wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. This three-row SUV boasts the best cargo space in its class, and offers new, comfortable seating options with USB ports in every row to accommodate the whole family.
If you need a family vehicle before the new Equinox or Traverse are released, you can find both in stock here at College Chevrolet Buick.
The Chevrolet Equinox is one of the brand’s best-selling models. It is a popular choice among families for its versatility, abundant features, and great options. Now, the Equinox is getting even better for the 2021 model year with styling updates, a new trim level, and more safety.
On the styling front, the updated Equinox comes with redesigned front and rear fascias with a more aggressive grille design. The Equinox also get new LED headlamps. If you want a model with a more unique look, choose the new RS trim. It adds a gloss black grille, black bowties and other exterior details, and 19-inch Dark Android wheels. Inside, the black upholstery is accented with red stitching.
For more high-end upgrades, choose the Premier trim. Its gloss black grille with chrome accents and 19-inch machine faced wheels give it a sophisticated look. It also comes equipped with a logo projection lift gate, a black glossy finish on the console, and French stitching on the upholstery.
In 2021, the Equinox will offer even more advanced safety features. Standard safety technology will include Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, a Rear Vision Camera, a Following Distance Indicator, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking IntelliBeam® Headlamps, and Forward Collision Alert.
The Chevrolet Equinox is already a great SUV, and it keeps getting better. Test drive it at your convenience at College Chevrolet Buick.

Rene Gedeon is a Sales Consultant here at College Chevrolet Buick and has been with us since 2007. Rene is a Lansing native and currently resides in Dimondale. He has been working in the automotive business for about 12 years.
If Rene could have any car, he would pick a Corvette. He has owned one in the past and completely fell in love with the performance. Currently, he drives a Chevy Equinox, but he thinks that the Tahoe matches his personality best. He says that the worst car that he’s ever driven was a Chevy Corsica.
When not at work, you’ll find Rene at the bowling alley, hanging out with family, and playing the guitar. He is a big fan of “Impractical Jokers” and “Two and a Half Men”. He also enjoys cheering on the Detroit Lions.
Rene says that his favorite part about working here at College Chevy is meeting people and helping customers solve problems. He also enjoys helping people get what they want. If you’re in the market for a new car, stop by and see Rene! He would be happy to help you find the perfect new ride!
If you’re a fan of Chevy’s popular Equinox and Traverse SUVs, you’re in luck. Chevrolet recently unveiled several Special Edition models for the two nameplates: two for the Equinox and one for the Traverse. Known as the Chevy Equinox Midnight and Sport Editions and the Traverse Graphite Edition, these three models add cool cosmetic touches to the two different nameplates to give them an extra dose of style.
The Equinox is one of the most popular compact SUVs on the market, and the Midnight and Sport Editions are only available on its LT trim level. The Midnight Edition comes in Mosaic Black Metallic, while the Sport Edition is Summit White. Touches such as black grilles and Chevrolet logos, black 18-inch wheels, other blacked-out accents, and leather-appointed seats give both models a sleek, sporty appearance.
Meanwhile, the Traverse Graphite Edition is only available on the 2LT trim with the body color available in Mosaic Black Metallic, Tungsten Metallic, Siren Red Tintcoat, and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. It will also receive black Chevy bowties in addition to 20-inch Dark Charcoal wheels.
The Special Edition models of the Equinox and Traverse were released to give potential buyers extra incentive to buy before both nameplates are redesigned next year for 2018. If you’re looking for an SUV with unique flair, try one of these with the Special Edition packages equipped.
Ben Snyder is the Internet Manager here at College Chevrolet Buick and a graduate of Kalamazoo College. He’s been with us for almost a year and has been working in the auto industry for 5 years. Ben was born in Aurora, Colorado but was raised right here in Albion.
Ben’s all-time dream car is the Batmobile, because well, who wouldn’t want to drive the Batmobile? He currently drives a Buick LaCrosse and a Chevy Equinox. His favorite car (which also happens to be the worst car he’s ever driven) was his ’91 Chevy Cavalier. The trunk leaked, the roof was caved in, the windshield was cracked, the brakes were soft, and it smelled terrible, but it was Ben’s introduction to freedom! Ben’s favorite Chevy vehicle is the upcoming 50th Anniversary 2017 Chevy Camaro. He says that if he were a car, he would be a 2016 Chevy Silverado High Country. Ben says he’s large and in charge on the outside, but comfortable and thoughtful on the inside – much like the truck!
When not hard at work as our Internet Manager, Ben enjoys spending time with his kids. He has a 2-year-old and a 9-year old that love to play with Play-Doh and Legos. He also enjoys watching Michigan sports (GO BLUE!) and also enjoys Game of Thrones.
His favorite part about working here at College Chevrolet Buick is the people. He thinks we have the best staff around (which we do!) and the customers make it fun to come into work every day! Stop by our dealership and say “Hello” to our teammate Ben the next time you’re out and about!
Chevy is the first automaker in the industry to develop this kind of technology, similar to the technology used in a Boeing 787. In the jet, in-flight messages can be sent to ground crews that alert them of parts that need inspection before the plane hits the ground.
OnStar Proactive alerts work similarly, by continuously monitoring the health of the starter motor, fuel pump, and 12-volt battery. If anything isn’t functioning as it should, you’ll get an alert from OnStar instructing you to take your car in for service.
Currently, this predictive technology is available to OnStar subscribers who own a 2016 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette, and Equinox.
“With Proactive Alerts, we now can offer customers even greater peace-of-mind of taking the guesswork out of when to service their vehicle,” said Steve Hollan, chief technologist for Vehicle Health Management at General Motors.
With these updates, you’ll get alerts on your vehicle’s health every time your car is started, and while you’re driving.
Now behind the wheel, you’ll be able to fix your car before you even notice something’s wrong!
