If you tuned in to Super Bowl XLIX, then you were one of millions who came close to having a heart attack right before the game. Chevrolet pranked the Super Bowl viewing audience with a clever ad called “Blackout.”
This ad tricked viewers into thinking they were watching a live feed of them game, only to experience technical difficulties and then a blank screen. After a few tense seconds, the words, “What would you do if your TV went out?” appeared on the screen. The ad then let viewers know they could stream the game inside the all-new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado with its built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi if that ever happened.
In addition to the “Blackout” ad, Chevrolet also ran four other Colorado spots during pre- and postgame, including “Focus Group – Rugged,” “Focus Group – Sexier,” “Focus Group – Pets,” and “Theme Song.”
“When you have a groundbreaking product like the Chevy Colorado, you must deliver groundbreaking advertising like we are today.” said Paul Edwards, US vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, in a statement.
Did you fall for Chevrolet’s blackout prank? What was your favorite Chevrolet Colorado ad from the big game?
Here at College Chevrolet Buick, we couldn’t believe it when we heard Chevy is utilizing a virtual reality system to design the next-generation Colorado and accessories. Using 2D and 3D renderings, Chevy engineers are able to fine-tune the details on any new product.
Engineers are using a 4K ultra-fine resolution PowerWall system to refine the 2015 Chevy Colorado accessories, according to Chevy. Using a 240 square-foot solid-glass screen, two Christie® Mirage 4K25 DLP® 3D projectors, eight computers, and two Christie Spyder X20 video processors, a team of five is able to ensure customers get exactly what they need.
“That’s the beauty of this kind of high definition. Using the math data, we can render the vehicle as the customer will see it in the ‘as manufactured state,’” said Joe Guzman, engineering group manager for Global Virtual Design Process & Operations. “Designers and engineers can then scrutinize every detail to make sure they are spot on.”
Thanks to this innovative new design system, Chevy is able to create some of the highest-quality cars on the road. Why would you want anything less than the best?
Do you know you want a truck with technology and stuff? Chevrolet knows you do. At least, that’s what the American carmaker claims in a brand new series of web videos that advertise the appeal of the all-new Chevrolet Colorado midsize truck.
The three videos, which are available on Chevrolet’s YouTube channel, show how owning a truck can possibly change the perception of the truck owners—even making some of the truck owners more rugged, dependable, and dateable. Each spot takes place in a separate place and features real people in focus groups, online dating, and the Health and Beauty aisle of a supermarket, reinforcing what it really means to be a “Truck Guy.”
“The films are centered around the idea that there is an inner truck guy in everyone,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. Vice President of Chevrolet Marketing. “The game-changing Chevrolet Colorado will enable people to unleash their inner truckness.”
With a variety of advanced technology and other “stuff,” including class-leading power, towing, and fuel economy, there’s no denying that the Chevrolet Colorado is a great truck choice. So, do you want a truck with technology and stuff? Stop in to College Chevrolet Buick and test-drive the Colorado—we think you’ll definitely figure out you’re a truck guy.
Here at College Chevy, we have been anticipating the release of the 2015 Chevy Colorado. We know that Chevrolet’s revitalized mid-size truck will offer better MPGs and more utility than before. We know that fuel-efficiency is something that people look for when purchasing a new vehicle and we’re sure that the Chevy Colorado will not disappoint.
Coming in at $5,000 less than its big sister, the Chevy Colorado will be an affordable pickup. The base model featuring a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and 6-speed manual transmission will start at just $20,995. The engine makes 200-horsepower and 191-lb.ft of torque which is enough to help you even with the toughest jobs.
Drivers may also opt for the more powerful V-6 engine which makes 305-horsepower and 269 lb.-ft of torque. This engine will come standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission and plenty of interior features. Some of our favorite features included in the Colorado include a rear vision camera, locking tailgate, and power windows.
If the V-6 isn’t enough to do the job, drivers can also purchase a Colorado with a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine. This model will come with a higher price tag, but when it comes to tough jobs and efficiency, it will definitely be the way to go.
Be sure to stop by our dealership when the Colorado makes its debut! We hope to see you soon at College Chevrolet Buick!
