Since its debut in 2013, the small crossover Encore—Buick’s most popular vehicle—hasn’t seen any major changes…until now. The many 2017 Buick Encore updates were revealed last month at the New York International Auto Show, showing off a new design and some exciting tech.
The front end has been totally redesigned to be more sculpted and refined than the previous Encore, with LED head- and taillights available. Inside, the 2017 Encore has some style updates, like the centralized dash and some cosmetic accents.
The new IntelliLink system will also be available in the new Encore, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two new apps that allow drivers to integrate their smartphones with the IntelliLink system. The Encore comes standard with 4G LTE Wi-Fi capabilities and has convenient features like keyless entry and start.
The Encore has standard front-wheel drive with the option of upgrading to all-wheel drive, and the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine has an output of 148 horsepower at the base level. This is certainly an Encore we’re looking forward to!
The next-generation Mokka X crossover has been unveiled before its world premiere in Geneva. This lead us to believe that it may represent the new look of the best-selling Buick Encore.
Buick spokesman Stuart Fowle confirmed that the 2017 Buick Encore will be appearing at the New York Auto Show, which is only weeks after the Mokka makes its official debut.
Fowle stated that there are no additional details to be announced at this time, but that the Encore will be joining the Cascada convertible, Envision crossover, and LaCrosse sedan as vehicles being released this year.
Both media and customers alike are anxiously waiting to see the new Buick Encore. It is believed to have borrowed style from the Mokka X, but there may also be similarities between the Encore and the 2017 LaCrosse sedan.
The engine is likely to retain the 138-horsepower Ecotec 1.4-liter turbo-four, as that is what the vehicle has continually used since it first debuted.
Although the specific style and power is still unknown, we at College Chevrolet Buick know that it will be a great vehicle and are excited for the Buick Encore debut.
Buick has been on a winning streak lately and we’re sure it’s because of its new diverse lineup! Buick isn’t just a brand for the older generation. The brand increased a whopping 18% compared to June of 2013. Retail sales alone increased 12% year over year making last month its best in retail sales since 2005. The Buick brand is making a new impression among drivers. The completely redesigned Regal isn’t what it used to be, it’s much better! This sedan alone experienced a 26% total year over year sales increase which marks its ninth straight month of year over year gains.
The Encore recently made headlines as it ranked as one of the highest small SUVs in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study. This is the second year in a row that the Encore has been a standout in this study.

As drivers, we have become accustomed to the luxuries and comforts of new vehicles. Power windows, OnStar, and air conditioning are features we have become very familiar with during the last 20 years along with countless others. For the 2015 model year, Buick is adding rearview camera to its long list of standard features!
Rear view cameras are relatively new to the auto industry, but ever since their debut they have been increasingly popular. Karl Brauer, Senior Analyst for Kelley Blue Book says “While they’re not standard on every car, yet, it’s rare to operate a new vehicle without them. The increased confidence these cameras provide make them a must-have feature.”
As you can see, Buick is committed to providing a safe driving experience. The Encore (all-wheel drive), Enclave, LaCrosse, Verano and Regal have all been awarded a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety by the NHTSA. Every Buick model comes standard with OnStar telematics system for 6-months.

A few months ago, Chevrolet announced ago that they would be including 4G LTE abilities to some models for the 2015 model year. At the DENT Conference in Idaho, Buick announced that they too would be offering 4G LTE. With this new technology, drivers will be able to turn their car into a mobile hotspot allowing internet surfing and web browsing from inside the vehicle.
4G LTE will be available through OnStar and will require a subscription and data plan, although prices have not yet been determined. The hotspot will be able to allow up to seven devices to connect simultaneously giving each of your passengers internet access from their own devices. Along with internet, this new addition will offer in-dash app integration and also connect you to your vehicle diagnostics.
For the 2015 model year, the LaCrosse, Regal, Verano, and Encore are said to have LTE capabilities and all 2016 Buick models will include the new feature.

While GM has been busy working on a Cadillac flagship sedan—most likely to be called the LTS, a name recently trademarked by GM—they might also be preparing a flagship vehicle for the Buick brand. Mark Reuss, President of GM for North America, first teased the idea in a recent interview with Forbes. Reuss discussed how GM could close gaps in their overall automobile lineup; when the idea of a Buick flagship surfaced, he hinted that it could be “a much more beautiful Panamera.”
While CEO Dan Akerson wants to be careful that a Buick flagship doesn’t step on the toes of the Cadillac brand’s resurgence, even he admitted that Buick could “probably” use a new flagship. Reuss, for his part, told Auto News that “something special for Buick, I think, is really needed for the next phase of where that brand is going.”
Regardless of if and when Buick might add a flagship to its lineup, one thing remains clear: GM continues its commitment to strengthening Buick’s status as a powerful global brand. With a strong lineup of products like the Encore and Regal in North America—and sister vehicles like the Opel Mekka in Europe—Buick is well positioned to continue its brand resurgence. Come in to College Chevrolet Buick today and test drive one of the Buicks in our inventory today.
