Eat Outside at These Michigan Restaurants with Outdoor Patios

When the summer rolls around, there is nothing quite like enjoying a cold beverage and a fresh meal on the patio of a great restaurant. Fortunately for residents of Albion, there are a number of excellent dining establishments within driving range that offer outdoor seating to further enhance your eating experience.

Michigan Restaurants with Outdoor Patios

Hungry Howie’s (Albion)

While there are several great places to eat right here in Albion, a lot of the finer dining establishments have, let’s say, a more industrial aesthetic. Hungry Howie’s is one of the very few places to eat in Albion with a patio, which is reason enough to visit in the summer, but Howie’s pizza should be all the incentive you need to drop in. We recommend the Howie Special on thin crust in particular!

The Curragh (Holland)

Looking out over the water at Milwaukee is The Curragh in Holland, MI, an Irish pub famous for its St. Patrick’s Day celebration and unique menus. Stop by this season to dine from the Tulip Time 2017 menu, which includes exceptional Guinness® Cheese Soup, the Ambassador Sandwich and unforgettable Guinness® Fish & Chips. Enjoy all of this with—you guessed it—a cold Guinness® from The Curragh’s patio and soak up the sun. To learn more about what’s going on at The Curragh, visit CurraghHolland.com.

Bill’s Beer Garden (Ann Arbor)

If part of your summer plans entail a trip to Blue Country, then swing by Bill’s Beer Garden in Ann Arbor. Just a block away from Main St., Bill’s has the perfect patio for dining, conversing, and cheering on the home team. While Bill’s Beer Garden specializes in adult beverages, its partnership with Mark’s Carts means you can grab everything from paella and tapas to Indian food and pizza from nearby food carts and fuel up.

If you want to dine outside, these restaurants are hard to beat. If you want to get there in style, College Chevrolet Buick has plenty of the latest cars, trucks, and SUVs to choose from—including plenty of models that come with sunroofs!

How to Celebrate Memorial Day

Celebrate Memorial Day

Nothing seems to welcome in summer vacation quite like Memorial Day. Make this year a special one and celebrate with friends and family with these ideas from College Chevrolet Buick.

Memorial Day Parades

Search your local newspaper for information on your area’s Memorial Day Parades. These community gatherings offer a chance to meet with friends in the morning. Plus, there’s nothing like starting your day off with some live music and colorful floats.

Decorate with Flags

One Memorial Day tradition is to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flags. Decorate your own house with flags, or have a craft day with the kids to make your own American flags, as a way to honor these soldiers.

National Moment of Remembrance

Memorial Day may be a great opportunity to spend a day off with loved ones, but it’s also good to remember why it was created in the first place—to honor our fallen soldiers. One way to connect with the reason behind Memorial Day is to participate in the National Moment of Remembrance. Congress established this moment at 3 pm each Memorial Day as a way to create national unity for one minute every year. Take that minute of silence out of your day this year to thank our fallen soldiers and show gratitude for your freedom, family, and friends.

What to Do and How to Be Safe If Your Engine Overheats

check engineWhile you were driving, you slowly noticed (or perhaps quickly noticed) that the needle on your engine temperature model has just bolted upwards. What do you do now? Here’s a quick guide on what to do if your engine overheats:

  • First of all, evaluate your surroundings and safely pull over.
  • Cautiously lift the hood of your car, allowing some airflow to cool off the hot contents.
  • Look around, but whatever you do, do not touch or remove the radiator cap, which would likely result in serious injury.
  • Next, call a professional and wait for help. It is not safe to drive with an overheated engine.
  • In the meantime, try to figure out what went wrong. Perhaps you are out of coolant, or one of the cooling system’s fans is broken.

In general, the summer seems to be the worst time of the year for engines overheating. Do you have any other tips? Let us know in the comments.

How Hot is Too Hot?

On a warm summer day, sometimes it’s nice to have your animal companions get out of the house and go for a ride. But remember even mild outside temperatures can become deadly heat inside a locked car within minutes.

After just 10 minutes a car can be as hot as 94 degrees on a 75 degree day. And that temperature can hit 109 after 30 minutes. Turning what was supposed to be a quick trip to the grocery store into something far worse.

This is also critically important for parents with young children. Children should never be left alone in a vehicle, especially in the summer months as temperatures hit the 90s and above outside.

Aside from making sure you don’t leave your children or pets inside a hot vehicle, it’s important to remember to take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

Take the time to lock your vehicle. Children often use cars as hiding places for games. An unlocked vehicle could lead to a child getting trapped inside the cabin or trunk.

While we don’t wish to scare parents or guardians we do want you to be alert and mindful to protect your loved ones this summer. The summer is a great time for family outings, vacations, sporting events, cookouts, and more. And at College Chevy we hope it stays that way.
