Welcome Brian Eberhard!

Brian Eberhard

Meet Brian – Our New Body Shop Manager!

All of us at College Chevrolet Buick would like to welcome Brian Eberhard, our new Body Shop Manager, to our team! Brian brings tons of experience to the position, having worked in parts departments and body shops for over two decades.

Before working at College, Brian worked at another Chevrolet dealership for 20 years. While there, he worked in the parts department for 18 years and then moved to the body shop as a Production Supervisor. Brian then moved to Kansas for 6 months to be with his family and took on the role of Production Supervisor at another body shop. With all of his experience, we knew he would be the perfect fit for the Body Shop Manager position here at College Chevy!

Born and raised in Battle Creek, Brian is very familiar with the Albion area. He has quickly found a place within our team, and he didn’t waste any time establishing a great rapport with his associates and making new friends.

Brian is a family man, so when he’s not hard at work, he likes to spend time with his family.  He also enjoys working on various projects around the house. One of the biggest reasons we knew Brian was perfect for the job was that, just like us, he loves vehicles!  His dream car is a truck—a 4×4 Chevrolet Crew Cab.  He figures that it would be the ideal vehicle for doing weekend mud runs, a favorite pastime of his.

So far, Brian’s favorite part of his new job is getting to know everyone.  From there, his goal is to take the body shop at College Chevrolet Buick to “the next level” and help the business grow. We are happy that Brian joined our team and look forward to his success in the future! Please join us in welcoming Brian to our team!

A Bitter Winter Causes Drivers to use their RemoteLink App

RemoteLink App

OnStar Available on the 2014 Chevy Cruze

Is it just us or has this winter been especially frigid? In a town like Albion, Michigan, we are accustomed to long bitter winters, but this one may be one of the worst! Thankfully many GM vehicle owners have the option of starting and heating up their cars from inside their warm toasty house.

Many Chevrolet drivers are using the RemoteLink App through OnStar® to make sure their car is warmed up and ready to go when they are. On its record-setting day, January 7th, the RemoteLink App was used more than 200,000 times across all General Motors brands. During the entire month of January, the RemoteLink App was used almost 3 million times, 55% of those requests were for remote start.

The RemoteLink App is not just used for remote start. This innovative app can give you on-demand vehicle diagnostic information and directions. If you are using OnStar® in your GM vehicle, be sure to look into downloading this app for your smartphone.

To learn more about vehicles available with OnStar® and RemoteLink capabilities, stop by our dealership near Jackson, Michigan. We look forward to seeing you (and Spring) soon at College Chevrolet Buick!

Two Chevrolet Models make Autoweek’s List of Best Cars for Winter

That time of year is coming… very, very, soon! No one knows winters quite like Michigan residents. It’s time to dig out your ice scraper and snow shovel to get prepared for winter. If you are in the market for a new vehicle, why not consider something that will be able to deal with the bitter chill and slick roadways? The Chevrolet Silverado and Tahoe both made Autoweek’s list of Best Cars for Winter.

The Chevy Silverado is available in four-wheel-drive which will help you get around town even when the road conditions are poor. The 2014 model offers the most powerful V8 engine available; the EcoTec3 6.2-liter. This great engine will be sure to give enough power to truck through the snow and ice.

The Tahoe is the perfect winter-time family snow machine. It is available in four-wheel-drive and is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 engine. This great vehicle offers plenty of room to fit the entire family if you are making a treacherous snowy holiday trip or vacation.

Even though Fall has just begun, it’s never too early to start thinking about winter and the harsh weather that can come with it. Be prepared for any condition this year by purchasing a new Silverado or Tahoe. Stop by College Chevrolet Buick in Albion, MI to explore all of your options.

Electric Range Extended For The 2013 Chevy Volt

If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not to drive electric, now is the time to hop over completely. The Chevy Volt is back and better than ever for the 2013 model year. Here are just a few reasons we at College Chevy Buick think you should give the Volt a chance:

Electric Range: With the 2013 Volt, you’ll get an all-electric range of 38 miles. That’s up 3 from last year.
Total Range: After the Volt’s battery is depleted, the Volt will switch over to the 1.4-liter gas range extender which powers a generator to provide energy to an electric motor (good for 149 hp), which brings the total range up to 380 miles.
Efficiency: The 2013 Volt received an incredibly high EPA rating of 98 MPGe. The previous model received a rating of 94.
Battery Power: The batter pack for the 2013 Volt has been bumped up ever so slightly. Now, instead of 16 kilowatt-hours of energy, the Volt’s battery can hold 16.5. That might not sound like much, but it means that the Volt can draw on 10.6 kWh instead of 10.3.

Need more convincing? Stop by College Chevy Buick today, and we’ll be happy to show you just how shockingly awesome the Volt truly is!

Electric Range Extended for the 2013 Chevy Volt

There are some electrifying rumors about the 2013 Chevy Volt that are currently charging the nation, and we at College Chevy Buick just can’t stop talking about them. From what we’ve heard, it’s likely that your favorite EV will soon be available with something completely new and exciting: a battery conservation mode that will allow you to use the Volt’s integrated gas tank when the car reaches higher speeds, like on the highway. This will conserve the battery.

This system makes a lot of sense for drivers who sometimes take their electric cars out of the city and into a faster-paced driving, because, although electric cars are incredibly efficient during in-town driving, their batteries drain very quickly at higher speeds. The Volt’s innovative “EV Hold Mode,” however, allows you to switch into the gas-powered mode so that you can maintain the battery’s current charge and implement your fuel reserves for the highway miles.

That’s not all that’s new and improved for the 2013 Volt, however. The EV will also feature the sacred lane-departure warning that has saved numerous lives since it first appeared in Chevy vehicles. In addition, the Volt will shed its black roof and trunk and take on body-colored parts to match the rest of the vehicle.

2012 Chevy Camaro Newest Member of 11 Second Club

For Camaro engineers and owners speed is and has always been the name of the game. The powerful 2012 Camaro ZL1, however, takes speed to another level. At the dragway in Milan, MI the Camaro ZL1 hauled off the line and posted a time of 11.93 seconds for the quarter-mile.

Take a peek a the video to learn a bit more about that record breaking Camaro.

It’s not uncommon for Chevrolet to take the Camaro to dragways and test out the Camaro’s muscle. The 2012 Camaro hit the Bondurant drag strip in Arizona and posted a more than respectable time, clocking in the 12 second range. This time Chevrolet went all out and was able to drop the time 11.93 second for the automatic transmission and 11.96 seconds for manual.

However, the Chevy Camaro is more than straight line speed and brute strength. It can turn corners, brake, and accelerate too. Heading across the big pond to Nürburgring, the guys at Chevrolet rolled out the Camaro for the undeniably tough road course. This course is standard for sports cars. Turning in a time of 7 minutes, 41 seconds, the Chevy Camaro performed on par with vehicles like the Porsche 911 Turbo S, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, and Ferrari 430 Scuderia.

Another milestone down for the Chevy Camaro and I can only imagine that the engineers at Chevrolet are already thinking of ways to make the Camaro faster, quicker, better handling, more fuel efficient, safer, and so much more.
