Kristi Russell is the Administrative Assistant here at College Chevrolet Buick. She’s been with us since 1998. She was even part of the staff when we were known as Frahm Chevrolet Buick Pontiac. When not working hard at College Chevy, you’ll find Kristi cooking for her family, watching Food Network, or enjoying the great outdoors. She and her family like to explore Silver Lake Sand Dunes in their Jeep and also enjoy spending time on the water with their boat.

Currently, Kristi drives a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban and she says that it’s the best vehicle that she’s ever owned. If she could have any car, she’d like to have a 1975 Chevrolet Nomad Wagon. She loves the style and look of it! On the other hand, Kristi says that the worst car she’s ever driven is a Ford Tempo.

Kristi’s favorite part about working at our dealership is interacting with customers. She enjoys meeting new people so please stop by College Chevrolet Buick and say “Hi!” to Kristi, our Administrative Assistant!

Holiday Travel Tips to Reduce Stress

Holiday Travel TipsHolidays are stressful to begin with, and travelling tends to exacerbate the situation. That’s why we’ve put together a list of holiday travel tips, specifically those that’ll help you stay relaxed on your trip. Whether you fly, drive, or take a train or bus, there’s tips any traveler can appreciate.

To being with, ignore your instincts and pack light. According to The New York Times, you should avoid packing your vehicle to the brim if possible. If flying, ship your gifts in advance—don’t let them be ripped open by TSA agents.  “I’ve seen instances when TSAs had to rip open beautifully wrapped gifts, which is not a fun way to start off a holiday,” David Solomito, the vice president of marketing at the travel search engine Kayak, has said.

Solomito also notes that the best day to travel is—believe it or not—the actual holiday itself. You’re statistically likely to find fewer crowds, less traffic, and better airfare on Christmas Day, than, say, a day or two before. If you can avoid flying or driving home before the actual holiday, you could have a much more enjoyable trip.

Finally, take the direct route. For drivers, this is more obvious. However, if you choose to fly, you might consider spending a little extra for fewer layovers. Connections will drastically increase stress, especially because holiday flights are prone to delays and overbooking. Unless you save hundreds of dollars, it might be worth it to take the shortest route.

New Thanksgiving Traditions You Should Try

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from College Chevrolet Buick!

Thanksgiving is all about family traditions, but if you’re sick of doing the same old thing, here are some new Thanksgiving traditions for the family looking to mix things up.

Make a Big Breakfast

Who wants to wait for dinner? Tide yourself over until the big meal later by indulging in a bigger-than-usual breakfast, all made from scratch.

Have Some “Me Time”

Some people get exhausted interacting with family all day. Before the big dinner, take some time to yourself to read a book, watch your favorite show, or go to a park.

Have Everyone Write Down Their “Thanks” – On the Table!

Instead of a tablecloth, try covering the table in butcher paper, then hand out pens to everyone. Have everyone write down what they’re thankful for during dinner.

Take a Walk as a Family

Now that your belly is full of delicious food, have everybody burn off the calories before dessert by going for a walk together.

Skype With Faraway Loved Ones

Is your family out-of-town? Use a program like Skype or Google Hangouts to get in touch during dinnertime!

Do you have any new Thanksgiving traditions of your own? Get creative this Thanksgiving season and brainstorm new ways to celebrate the holiday with your family.

Employee Spotlight: Danielle Lambright

Danielle LambrightThis month, we’d like to highlight Danielle Lambright! She is a Service Advisor here at College Chevrolet Buick. Currently, Danielle lives in Albion, but she’s a Jonesville native. Danielle started her career in the automotive industry with us two years ago and we’re so happy to have her on board!

Danielle has a very specific dream car. She would love to have a slightly lifted 2002 Chevy Silverado HD painted flat black with tinted windows, blacked out headlights & taillights, and also sporting a dark grey interior. Danielle’s favorite car she’s ever owned is her current 2010 Chevy Malibu, but her favorite vehicle in the lineup is the Silverado. Her least-favorite car she’s ever driven was her two-toned Chevy Impala.

When not at work, you’ll find Danielle hanging out with friends and family around a bonfire, online shopping, and crafting with pallets. Her favorite TV show is Law & Order SVU and really loves cheering on her favorite team, the Michigan State Spartans!

Don’t Miss These Fall Car Care Tips

fallThere is a definite chill in the air now as the days continue to get shorter. As you settle into your autumn routine, make sure to take some time now to take care of your car before winter arrives. Here are some fall car care tips to help prevent some major breakdowns when the weather really gets cold.

  • Read your owner’s manual. Your owner’s manual includes a list of routine maintenance you should have done on a regular basis. If you’ve missed some of this maintenance, get your car back on track.
  • Resolve performance issues. If your engine just doesn’t drive the way it should or you experience hard starts, rough idling, or stalling, get these issues resolved now as they will intensify with cold weather.
  • Keep your tank full. A fuel tank that is kept full helps prevent moisture from forming in the fuel lines. That moisture can freeze in the winter, so try to keep your tank full.
  • Check your HVAC system. Make sure your heater and your air conditioner are in good working order. Your A/C still plays an important role in the colder months as it removes moisture from the air via the defroster.
  • Inspect your lights. As the days get shorter, you’ll be using your lights more. Make sure all of your exterior lights are working and angled correctly.

If you want to get your car ready for colder weather, schedule an appointment with College Chevrolet Buick.

Employee Spotlight: Ben Snyder

Ben Snyder

Ben Snyder

Ben Snyder is the Internet Manager here at College Chevrolet Buick and a graduate of Kalamazoo College. He’s been with us for almost a year and has been working in the auto industry for 5 years. Ben was born in Aurora, Colorado but was raised right here in Albion.

Ben’s all-time dream car is the Batmobile, because well, who wouldn’t want to drive the Batmobile? He currently drives a Buick LaCrosse and a Chevy Equinox. His favorite car (which also happens to be the worst car he’s ever driven) was his ’91 Chevy Cavalier. The trunk leaked, the roof was caved in, the windshield was cracked, the brakes were soft, and it smelled terrible, but it was Ben’s introduction to freedom! Ben’s favorite Chevy vehicle is the upcoming 50th Anniversary 2017 Chevy Camaro. He says that if he were a car, he would be a 2016 Chevy Silverado High Country. Ben says he’s large and in charge on the outside, but comfortable and thoughtful on the inside – much like the truck!

When not hard at work as our Internet Manager, Ben enjoys spending time with his kids. He has a 2-year-old and a 9-year old that love to play with Play-Doh and Legos. He also enjoys watching Michigan sports (GO BLUE!) and also enjoys Game of Thrones.

His favorite part about working here at College Chevrolet Buick is the people. He thinks we have the best staff around (which we do!) and the customers make it fun to come into work every day! Stop by our dealership and say “Hello” to our teammate Ben the next time you’re out and about!

His favorite car that he’s ever owned is a 1977 Caprice Classic and his favorite Chevy vehicle is an Astro Van. He says that a Corvette best-matches his personality because he’s sleek, powerful, desired by many, but unattainable for most (sounds like a modest guy, huh!?).
