Carried by the bronze imbued 20-inch wheels, the grille prominently sports an added chrome hue. To embellish this added shade, the crossover will come in three color offerings: White Frost Tricoat, Dark Chocolate Metallic, and Ebony Twilight Metallic.

Available only in two trims—Leather (1SL) and Premium (1SN)—standard features include a power-operated dual moon-roof, a heated steering wheel, OnStar with 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as a powered lift-gate and tri-zone automatic climate control. Powering the newest Enclave crossover is a 3.6-liter V6 capable of 288 horsepower mated to a six-speed automatic transmission; customers having the choice between front- or all-wheel-drive capabilities.

“Buick’s quality, refinement and style continues to attract more customers and this modern resurgence started with Enclave,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick. “It was a pioneer for three-row luxury crossovers and remains one of the segment’s most popular. The new Tuscan Edition celebrates Enclave’s achievement and rewards owners with a higher level of distinction.”

Buick Convertible History: Looking Back Only to Look Forward

2016 Buick Cascada

2016 Buick Cascada – Coming Soon!

The debut of the all-new 2016 Buick Cascada at the North American International Auto Show has people buzzing about a new Buick convertible. In order to appreciate what’s to come, we thought it would only be appropriate to give a rundown of Buick convertible history so we can appreciate the past as well. We at College Chevrolet Buick have listed some of our favorite past Buick convertibles below.

The first Buick convertible came in the form of the 1908 Runabout. It was the best-selling model of its time and had a price tag of $900. The Runabout was so popular that the production plant had to have around-the-clock shifts to keep up with its demand. Another favorite of ours was the 1938 Y-Job. The Y-Job was considered the auto industry’s first concept car and was deemed the “Car of the Future.”

We also have a soft spot in our hearts for the 1953 Buick Skylark. It was the masterpiece of Buick’s 50th Anniversary series. It was also one of the most luxurious Buick’s ever made, even featuring the owner’s name on a gold emblem on the steering wheel.

Reminiscing about some of the greatest Buick convertibles makes us even more excited about the new 2016 Cascada. It will be Buick’s first convertible release in 25 years! As we wait for the day the Cascada arrives, let us know what some of your favorite Buick convertibles are with a comment below.

Buick Avenir Concept Car Interior Hints at Future of Brand’s Design

Buick Avenir

Buick Avenir Concept Car at CAS

Consumers who are looking to purchase luxury cars often want the best of the best—especially in their vehicle’s interior. The Buick Avenir concept car interior provides customers with a sleek, sophisticated design and high-quality materials within its cabin, helping the vehicle—which debuted at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) earlier this year—earn awards left and right.

“With Avenir’s interior, we really wanted to select materials that would complement the surfaces within,” said Rebecca Waldmeir, Buick Color and Trim design manager. “Using a distinctive combination of premium leather, suede, wood, chrome, and acrylic, we were able to design elements that flow seamlessly throughout the interior.”

The Avenir’s interior combines a variety of top-notch materials, putting a twist on traditional Buick interior styling with a nature-inspired look. These new design cues hint at the future of the Buick brand’s design philosophy, showing that the American carmaker is on the path to becoming a leader in the luxury segment.

Pearl Harbor Buick Fetches $73,700 at Auction

Pearl Harbor BuickThere is something captivating about classic cars. A piece of history that exists in our world, a time capsule of sorts that takes us back to a more simple time—before navigation systems and self-driving cars were even conceivable. A time when a good radio; hand craftsmanship; and big, bold designs were cherished. Add to that a story, and you have yourself a piece of art.

It should come as no surprise then, that a 1939 Buick that survived the Pearl Harbor attack unscathed fetched $73,700 at auction. The Pearl Harbor Buick is a 1939 Buick Special Convertible Coupe 46C with Dynaflash 8, which belonged to DeForest “Dee” Venter, a sailor from Connecticut.

The Buick was parked at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941 – the day it was attacked by the Japanese. Though the attack devastated the area and killed more than 2,400 people, the Buick remained in perfect condition. When Ventor and his friend George Bullard were sent off to war, the Buick went to George’s wife, Mary.

Mary Bullard was the proud owner of the Buick for 30 years, at which time she sold it to her cousin, A.C. Wilson. Wilson then restored the car and showed it at car shows and in parades during his ownership. Recently Wilson decided it was time to sell the Buick, and put it up for auction. Tom Beasley from Stuart, Virginia is the winner of the auction and the proud new owner of the Pearl Harbor Buick.

“I enjoyed the history of it,” Beasley said in a Roanoke.comarticle. The Japanese “bombed all around it, and everything was hit but that car. For it to survive is a miracle.”

Here at College Chevrolet Buick, we couldn’t be happier to see this Buick’s legacy continue.

Overall, the Buick sedan earned four stars for its response to the front crash test, five stars for the side crash, and four in the rollover test.

This rating is not only for the all-wheel-drive version of the Buick Regal, but also the front-wheel-drive version.

The standard safety package comes with a rearview camera, six airbags, stability control, traction control, and antilock brakes. Optional features include lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert, and side blind zone alert.

The 2015 Buick Regal has proven itself to be one of the safest vehicles on the road, and the US government has given the Regal its seal of approval with the Five-Star Safety rating.

The Verano Has New Tires and a Smooth Ride to Match

Verano has new tiresBuick says that the new Verano needed some newly designed tires to give it a more polished ride. New tires may sound like a simple improvement, but tires can have a significant effect on how loud the car ride is and how noticeable the noise is in the passenger cabin.

General Motors reports, “For the Verano, we needed to ensure we provided ride comfort, while also balancing fuel economy and rolling resistance, and delivering an engaging driving experience.” The brand has opted to fix this problem by engineering new tires to use on Verano models.

Two tires from Continental Tire have been manufactured specifically for the Verano that have low rolling resistance to help aid fuel economy and allow for better handling. Redesigned, the tread pattern of the tire can help the wheel avoid high-frequency noise that comes from a tire making contact with the pavement. Making these changes to the tread should reduce cabin noise.

Buick “Drive for Your Students” Gives Back to Local Communities

General Motors is giving back to communities through its Buick brand, which is sponsoring test drive events in one hundred communities nationwide to raise money for high schools. The new test drive events, which will be put on by local high schools, are a good fit for the brand who is aiming to target a younger generation of buyers.

The Buick “Drive for Your Students” program launched a trial run in six communities back in May. Buick has now announced that the program will spread to the remaining 94 communities by the end of the year.

Buick "Drive for Your Students"

Buick dealers are pairing with local high schools to put on the large test drive events, which gives the community the opportunity to test drive Buick vehicles and allows the students to plan, coordinate, and host the event. The “Drive for Your Students” events give the participating high school students worthwhile real-world experience and networking opportunities with the community and sponsoring dealership.

Buick will then donate up to $10,000 per event to the host schools, depending on the number of test drives the school achieves. The automaker has committed a donation of $10 per vehicle test driven, and will double that to $20 per drive if the event exceeds 100 test drives, up to a maximum of$10,000.

“This program offers the opportunity for Buick and its dealers to build lasting relationships in the community,” said Nader Ozzie of Freeman Buick GMC in Grapevine, Texas.

Jay Leno and George W. Bush Help Auction 1957 Buick Caballero Estate Wagon

A 1957 Buick Caballero Estate Wagon might at first have you shrugging “meh”. Especially when you’re at Monterey Car Week, which was packed full of ultra-expensive Ferrari Le Mans racers and other exotic rides from the 20th century. But then what if we told you the classic station wagon was professionally restored by Jay Leno’s Big Dog Garage and bears the signature of former U.S. President George W. Bush?

Gooding & Company expected the 1957 Buick Caballero Estate Wagon to sell for somewhere in the $100,000 to $125,000 price range.

When it was time to auction the vintage station wagon, Jay Leno was introduced and announced to the crowd that his Big Dog Garage had restored the car at no cost to benefit The George W. Bush Military Service Initiative, a charity for post-9/11 veterans. This revelation turned out to be a game-changer.

The wagon sold for a whopping $300,000 – but that’s not the end of the story. The buyer walked on stage, and donated the car back to David Gooding (of Gooding & Company). The car was then auctioned for a second time, this time the vintage car was sold to the previous runner-up for $280,000.

If you’re good at math, you’ve already figured out that the Buick earned a whopping $580,000, five times what it’s worth. It’s amazing what people are willing to do in the name of supporting veterans, and we love that. This is one over-priced car that makes all of us at College Chevrolet Buick feel all warm and tingly inside.

Best Luxury Brand: Buick Beats Out Established Favorites in New Consumer Reports

Here at College Chevrolet Buick, we’ve always known just how capable and elegant our Buick vehicles were. Now, thanks to a recent Consumer Reports article—and a renewed marketing campaign—the rest of the world is finally starting to catch up. In fact, CR even recommends that you forget about those more established luxury brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz in favor of a Buick. Basically, a Buick brings you all the style and performance of those other brands without the fancy price tag.

Best Luxury Brand

2014 Buick Regal

Specifically, CR recommends the Buick Regal over basically any other luxury sedan: “Regal beat the Volvo S60 in a head-to-head road test. Ultimately, the Regal wound up finishing just one point shy of the class-leading BMW 328i and tied the Mercedes-Benz C250 for second place in the organization’s overall ratings of upscale sport sedans—while costing thousands less.”

The Buick Regal Premium runs on a 2.0L, four-cylinder turbocharged engine, sports front-wheel-drive technology, looks sexy as hell, seats five people, and even manages to get 30 mpg on top of that. If Buick keeps making vehicles this good, it will continue to climb up the luxury car ranks for many years to come. But for today, just come see us at College Chevy Buick to check out the lineup for yourself.
