Definition of Safe: The Chevrolet Malibu Eco

The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco makes its mark as the first and only all-new midsize car to receive the highest ratings possible for safety from both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The IIHS tests measure a vehicles ability to protect occupants from frontal and side crashes, rollovers, and rear impact crashes. The NHTSA conducts their tests based on rollovers, frontal and side crash tests, in which the Malibu Eco received the 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score.

Not only did the Malibu Eco score well, Chevrolet earned seven other 2012 Top Safety Pick awards. GM’s executive director of Vehicle Safety, believes GM is now, “seeing the results from our commitment to design the highest-rated vehicles in the world in safety performance.”



Features like ultra-high strength steel, placement of and sensors for airbags, four-channel disc brakes with ABS, and OnStar are a just a few options that owners of the Malibu Eco enjoy.

The Malibu Eco will be sold in six continents, spreading the safety of all across the world.

But car buyers are looking for more than just safety. It’s a good thing the Malibu Eco is also the most fuel-efficient midsize car from Chevrolet.
